These paintings are made by working from direct observation. I enjoy the challenge of interpreting what I see into paint. The typical process is to begin with a charcoal sketch directly on canvas, then I use acrylic paint to block in the basic colors. When the proportions are worked out and the white of the canvas is covered, I then switch to oil paint to complete the painting.
